Five of Our Least Favorite Golf Holes In Washington State

Updated: 4 days ago

Not every hole has to be perfect. Some quirks are fun. Some weird bounces are part of the charm. But every now and then, you run into a hole that just makes you shake your head.

These are the holes that stand out to us for the wrong reasons. Not because they’re brutally hard or unfair, but because they’re boring, awkward, or just don’t really make sense.

Here are our least favorite holes in Washington State, counting down from 5 to 1

5. Jackson Park Golf Course — Hole 15

Par 4 | 443 yards (back tees)

This hole is just kind of there. Long, straight, and not very interesting, with nothing that really asks you to think or make a decision. And then there are the power lines running straight over the fairway, which are absolutely in play off the tee. Hitting a good drive and worrying about whether it clipped a wire is never a great feeling. It’s not hard in a fun way, just awkward and forgettable.

4. The Creek at Qualchan Golf Course — Hole 13

Par 4 | 333 yards (back tees)

This one looks cool at first glance. Big downhill dogleg left, dramatic views, lots of slope. But once you play it a few times, you realize it doesn’t really ask much of you. Almost anything off the tee ends up in the same spot, and you’re left with a short wedge into the green. It’s quirky, sure, but it feels more like a novelty hole than one that rewards good shots or good decisions.

3. Bellevue Golf Course — Hole 5

Par 5 | 485 yards (back tees)

An S-shaped par 5 is always tricky, and this one never quite comes together. You can’t really hit driver off the tee without getting yourself into trouble, and even good tee shots often leave you in an awkward spot. From there, it feels like you almost have to lay up again, turning a par 5 into a three-shot hole without much strategy or reward. It’s a strange layout that ends up feeling more frustrating than interesting.

2. Harbour Pointe Golf Club — Hole 5

Par 4 | 435 yards (back tees)

Harbour Pointe is a grind overall, and this hole does not help. It’s a long dogleg left where the ideal line off the tee is incredibly narrow. The annoying part is you can just go straight or right pretty easily, but then you end up out of position and blocked out from actually attacking the green. If you play it “smart” and hit less club to stay safe, you’re often left with too much club coming in anyway. It’s difficult, but not in a way that feels especially satisfying.

1. The Golf Club at Redmond Ridge — Hole 13

Par 4 | 435 yards (back tees)

This one takes the top spot for us. The tee shot is demanding, but the real issue is the approach. It’s completely blind into a green that drops way down below you. You can hit what feels like the perfect number and still have no clue where the ball ended up. Blind shots can be fun when they’re used sparingly, but here it just feels gimmicky. More confusing than exciting, and usually frustrating.
